Each month, we spotlight one of our spectacular employees here at Go Local Interactive and give you the scoop on the people behind the scenes who are working Go Local magic every day! This month, we are focusing on our hilariously entertaining Accountant, Dan Quinlivan, who is always willing to take a break out of his busy day to tell the best stories.
School/Degree: Undergrad at UMSL with a degree in Accounting and Marketing and Masters in UMKC in Accounting Information Systems
How did you find your way to Go Local? I was looking for a new gig and just happened to find this position on Indeed.com. I came in for an interview, one would hope they liked me, and now here I am.
What do you love most about Go Local? I love what I do and the environment here is a bunch of motivated individuals that get things done as a team. Everyone together is striving to grow the company and it’s really refreshing. I also enjoy the work-life balance that I am able to have.
What do you enjoy most about being our Go Local Accountant/Controller? In the past I have been a specialist, but here I broaden my horizons and experience. Instead of only being involved in one piece of a company’s finances, here I get to have a hand in anything and everything financial related.
When you’re not at work, what do you do for fun? I chase my son, Spud a lot. I also really love to run, watch Cardinal’s baseball and KU basketball, compete in triathlons, and go fishing.
What’s your favorite KC restaurant? I would have to say Hereford House. Why? Because they have steaks and beer.
What is your dream vacation? I love both the warm and cold environments but I would probably choose to go skiing in Colorado, because I haven’t been in so long. I love being outdoors and the beautiful scenery in the mountains, and it is so relaxing being way out there secluded in mother nature like that.
What is your favorite Go Local memory? Probably the first Christmas party. I had just started and was sort of an outsider, so I just sat and watched and couldn’t stop laughing. People were having fun and it was not your typical stuffy corporate environment.
Do you have a go local nickname? DQ – I am okay with that name.
Have you ever given a Go Local nickname? We started calling Phil – Flip but I have no idea why.
What is something that no one would know about you by looking at you? I LOVE heavy metal, and my favorite band is probably Tessla.
OK, pretend you have the day off. What would we find you doing? Probably go and play a round of golf or take the Sea-Doo out at the lake.
Do you have any vices? Coke and chicken wings!
Describe yourself in 3 words. Driven. Impatient. Adventurous.
Big shout out to Dan for all the hard work he does for Go Local, keeping our books in order and always keeping us entertained.
