School/Degree: A degree in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations from Pittsburg State University
Job Title: New Business Manager
How did you find your way to Go Local?
I ran my own business for 10 years, then took about 6 months off after that. I tried being a stay at home dad for a little, but it wasn’t for me. Somehow I connected with Tom on LinkedIn (I think) found out the Go Local was growing and there was an opportunity to be a part of a growing team. A bigger sales team could help things get bigger, better, and badder. The appealing part was to help the company grow, I’m not just a cog in the wheel, you know?
What do you love most about your job here?
The challenge of helping a growing company. It’s doing pretty well, but it could still do a lot better. I like providing opportunity for others and that I can teach/ educate them.
What do love most about working with your product or department?
Good group of guys. We make each other laugh every day. Even though we’ve got pretty tough jobs with a lot of responsibility, we enjoy being around one another. After you’ve heard “no” 50 times in a row, at least you can look at Chris G’s mustache.
What is your favorite Go Local memory?
The celebration we had for reaching a sales goal. We took a party bus to tour Boulevard Brewing Company and we had family lunch at Buca di Beppo. Then played whirly ball at Power Play. It was a full day with an awesome company, doing awesome things. Every account I’ve ever won is a close second for best memory… and getting paid on the 16th…and that time Melanie yelled at me when I asked her for stuff… and when I had a perfect week on college pick ‘em.
When you’re not at work, what do you do for fun?
I watch sports, spend tons of time with my four kids, coach softball and soccer (kids teams) – gettin’ down on that dad life.
OK, pretend you have the day off. What would we find you doing?
Well, I would like to be fishing or golfing. What I am most likely doing is tending to the “honeydo” list which involves housework and yard work.
Do you have any office nicknames?
Pete (for Pedro) and current reigning “Salesperson of the Year”
What’s your favorite KC restaurant?
That’s a tough question, maybe the Majestic. I also love Joe’s KC and Grinders Stonewall.
What’s your claim to fame?
I was the #1 ranked wrestler in the state in 1995 and was awarded Go Local’s “Salesperson of the Year” for 2016. I also currently hold the Go Local Pop-A-Shot record and successfully bred four, awesome kids.
What is something that no one would know about you by looking at you?
That my name is Pedro, they don’t believe me based on my voice over the phone.
Do you have any pets?
Right now, we have a one-eyed french bulldog (Fatty Maggie), 3 cats (Bruno, Ace, and Magic), and a couple tetras and shrimp.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Probably Spain, I would love to check out the Mediterranean and the culture.
What is the luckiest thing that has happened to you?
I outkicked my coverage with Jessica (my wife).
Any Pet Peeves?
Liars, excuse makers, and whiners.
Describe yourself in 3 words.
Charismatic, confident, chill
Any other fun facts about you?
I met a Rod Stewart look-alike in Baton Rouge, LA. People thought he really was Rod Stewart. It was glorious.
