How did you find your way to Go Local? I knew I was ready for a new adventure outside of Chicago; so my mom came and visited me. We looked into Kansas City marketing jobs, found GLI and emailed them that I was interested. I had a phone screening, got an interview, then another, and on my 3rd interview, I was actually not offered a position. However, Chriss, our Chief Officer of Operations, kept my hopes up as he walked me to the door and ensured that I would soon be hearing from GLI. A little over a month later…after a few (or five) emails back and forth I got the official offer! Persistence is key!
What do you love most about your job here? The atmosphere, I enjoy coming to work. Even after a long vacation, I love coming back. I don’t just have co-workers here, I have friends.
What do you love most about working with your product or department? With SEO, I love that you are constantly on your toes because there is always something new being rolled out that we need to learn and integrate with our current client offerings. So you are always learning. And as cliché, as it sounds, I truly enjoy my product team!
What is your favorite Go Local memory? There are so many to choose from, but the one that keeps coming to mind is the Royals game! Everyone came out and we tailgated then to the game. It was just so fun!
When you’re not at work, what do you do for fun? I like to explore the city and find new places!
OK, pretend you have the day off. What would we find you doing? I typically would have a list of items that I SHOULD do such as clean my apartment, go grocery shopping, do some laundry…but typically it’s between taking a complete day off – aka – Netflix and the couch all day OR I am out and about exploring the city.
Do you have any office nicknames? We used to have 3 “Kims” in the office, so Kim G was my go-to name. Our CEO, Jason, said it reminded him of Kimchi, so I get that every once in a while. I also on occasion get called KG or Kimmy G.
What is something that no one would know about you by looking at you? I played volleyball my whole life and throughout college and a fitness freak. My current obsession is CrossFit! I am one of those crazy 5am gym-goers and I absolutely love it. I feel like at this point in life I am go go go go, so taking that time in the morning just for myself is the best way I can start a day.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? That’s such a tough question! I would love to backpack across Europe someday, but if I had to pick one place, I think Australia would be top on the list. It’s currently summer there and all the pictures look stunning!
Favorite restaurant? There are so many to choose from! I am not a huge foodie to be completely honest. I will say for drinks – Lifted Spirits is my favorite cocktail place and it’s just such a cool place! I also really enjoy Blue Line because – it’s a hockey bar and I love the St. Louis Blues so it’s a win-win. At the end of the day – anywhere I go, if there is good company then I am truly in my happy place.
Any Pet Peeves? My first thought always when someone says Pet Peeves is something relating to driving. For example, when someone leaves their blinker on and, clearly, they are not switching lanes OR when drivers like to hang out in the left lane and are not passing anyone/driving slow. Ugh, drives me nuts!
