Senior Product Manager

How did you find your way to Go Local?

It actually found its way to me. I knew Jason and Andrea from a previous job and they had the idea. They came to me and of course I really liked both of them, so it was a no brainer.

What do you love most about your job here?

I would have to say the environment and the people. As cliché as it sounds, the people really make the job what it is. I spend  a third of my life with them and since I actually enjoy everyone it is really great.

What is your favorite Go Local memory?

There are so many! But my favorite is probably the very first meeting I had to discuss my involvement in the company. Jason, Andrea, and I met at a Dunkin’ Donuts, which was awesome because I love donuts! But really, we got to discuss our future and their vision and just knowing I was sitting with people who are extremely brilliant and that I was going to follow them wherever they go was an awesome feeling and a great memory.

What is your dream vacation?

Vacations for me are all about not doing anything. So I really wouldn’t want to go to Disney World or anything. I would love to go back to Ireland, my wife’s family is from there and when we went before, we just got to sit in pubs and hang out and it was the best.

When you’re not at work, what do you do for fun?

I read way more than a person should. I love hanging out with my family, which is another cliché answer, but it is true. My wife and two boys make me smile and we have a great time. One third of my life is spent with my awesome coworkers, one third is spent with my awesome family, so as long as I am getting good sleep for the other third, I guess I am doing alright.

Do you have a go local nickname?

I don’t think I do… I wish I did. Maybe the people in the comments can give me one?

Have you ever given a Go Local nickname?

I have tried but none of mine have stuck. Sometimes I call Jason ‘Dummie’? But that isn’t even good.. it doesn’t even rhyme

What’s your favorite KC restaurant?

Cliché answer #3- Joe’s KC BBQ. But, it is just so good!

What is something that no one would know about you just by looking at you?

I do in fact own more than just plaid long sleeved shirts.

OK, pretend you have the day off. What would we find you doing?

Hanging out with the family, because I don’t get to do that nearly enough. If it was just myself I would be drinking coffee, smoking cigars at the Cigar Lounge, and reading.

Do you have any vices?

Cigars.

Describe yourself in 3 words.

Very pretty short.

What do you enjoy about SEO?

There is always a mystery to solve. I love the idea of combining analytical thought and creative solutions.

Tell us about your boys, is it true they have their own Twitter account?

My two boys, Jameson-5 and Jude-almost 2, are way smarter than I knew kids could be. They are really funny and they get jokes and humor in a way that constantly surprises me. Jameson is very inquisitive and because of this, many of the thoughts he has and questions he asks are hilarious. My wife and I have documented many of his best quotes in the twitter account @WhyIsAdeleSad. Jude is also hilarious in the way he knows how to push Jameson’s buttons. It is very impressive for a one year old and is totally awesome.

Tell us a little about being an author/ what you love about writing.

I love the idea of owning an entire environment and being able to dictate and find correlations between things. SEO and writing are more related than one may think, in order to be successful in both you need to find relationships between things that are not there to the average eye. The idea of dedicating yourself to a long term project is also very fulfilling to me. I can be going about my day and find something that would make my project work and then at night I can implement that and then can have something that I can showcase and be proud of.
